Does Weave Integrate With Open Dental and Dentrix? Yes. Now Check These Three Things.
Yes. Weave integrates with Open Dental, Dentrix, Dentrix Ascend, Eaglesoft, and most of the major practice management systems, and Weave is an authorized integration vendor on Henry Schein One's API Exchange. If that's all you came for, you have your answer.
But if you're asking because your front desk is still typing the same patient into two screens, the yes isn't the interesting part. A practice in Chittenden County can have a fully supported integration on paper and a fully manual morning in practice. Here are the three things to actually check.
Check 1: Is it connected, or just installed?
These are different states, and the second one is everywhere. The practice pays for Weave, the practice pays for Open Dental or Dentrix, and nobody ever ran the connection setup, or it broke in an update and nobody noticed because the front desk quietly went back to double entry.
Ten minutes tells you which practice you are. Book a fake test patient in your practice management software and watch whether they show up on Weave's side without anyone touching it. If they don't, you're paying for an integration you don't have.
Check 2: What does the sync actually cover?
Supported integration doesn't mean everything flows. Weave's integration centers on the schedule and patient contact data: who's coming in, when, and how to reach them, which is what powers reminders and the missed-call text-back.
Make a simple list for your own office. Where do new patients get entered first? Do confirmations write back to your practice management schedule or live only in Weave? What happens to insurance details, forms, and the recall interval? Every row on that list that says "typed twice" is the double-entry tax we wrote about here, still running under a paid integration.
Check 3: What's around the edges?
Even connected and configured, the pair of Weave plus your PMS doesn't cover the whole practice. The insurance portal. The accounting. The forms tool someone added in 2023. The spreadsheet that tracks something nobody remembers deciding to track.
That's the part Connect Your Tools exists for. We don't replace Weave or your practice management software. We check what their integration genuinely covers in your office, fix the configuration if it's just unplugged, and build the bridges for whatever's left. Sometimes the honest finding is that you don't need us: the integration works and someone just needed to turn it on. You'll hear that in the first conversation, not after an invoice.
What connects to what depends on your exact systems and what they expose, so we confirm it against your setup before quoting. When there is a build, it's one-time, starts at $1,000, and you own it. It's one piece of what we automate for dental practices.
Common questions
Yes, Open Dental is on Weave's supported list, alongside Dentrix, Dentrix Ascend, Eaglesoft, SoftDent, Curve, Dolphin, and Fuse. Supported is the starting line, though. Whether your installation is actually syncing is a ten-minute test, and it fails in more offices than you'd think.
Usually one of three reasons: the connection was never completed during onboarding, it broke during a software update, or the sync covers less than the office assumed and the gap got absorbed as "how we do it." All three are fixable. The first step is the test-patient check above, which tells you which one you've got.
The right first question for anything touching patient information, and it applies to Weave, your PMS, and anyone like us who wires things together. We treat it as a real concern, not a checkbox: during the free consultation we walk through exactly how patient data would move, where it lives, and what your obligations are, before anything gets built.
Weave does sell an AI answering add-on now, and if your main gap is unanswered calls, it's worth pricing against the owned-build alternative. Different problem than integration, though. An answered call still doesn't fix a patient typed twice.
